Keyboard layout converter online
Typed a word or a whole line in the wrong keyboard layout? Paste the gibberish here and get your text back — from Russian or Hebrew to English, or the other way around. Nothing leaves your browser: a script on this page does all the work.
The converter needs JavaScript. It’s a script that runs right in your browser, but scripts are turned off, so there’s no field here. Turn JavaScript on for this page, or use a program instead: Lang Switcher fixes wrong-layout text with one key, right in the window you’re typing in — learn more.
Same keys, different letters
The converter finds each character on the keyboard and swaps it for the character on the same key in the other layout. The keys you typed light up.
How it decides — and what it won’t do
No dictionary and no guessing — just keys and letters.
The direction is automatic
The converter checks the letters in each word. A word in Russian or Hebrew letters becomes English; a word in English letters goes into the layout you picked above the field. So a line that mixes both gets fixed word by word.
Not phonetic transliteration
Typing “privet” or “shalom” in English letters won’t get you “привет” or “שלום” — that’s phonetic transliteration, a different job. This converter goes by keys, not by sound: it fixes text typed with the wrong layout on.
Case and punctuation, as typed
A capital stays a capital, and punctuation follows its key: “Руддщб цщкдв!” comes back as “Hello, world!” Hebrew has no capital letters — with Shift, the Hebrew layout types English capitals, so those stay as they are.
Your text stays with you
The script is built into this page and runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and once the page has loaded, it works offline too.
Russian and Hebrew only
Other pairs — English and Greek, say, or English and Arabic — are a job for Lang Switcher: it works with any pair of layouts, or a cycle of up to eight. This page can’t repair text garbled by the wrong encoding, either — that’s mojibake, a different problem.
Without a script
The converter is a script on this page. With JavaScript off, there’s no field — just a note and a link to Lang Switcher.
Fix it with one key, right where you type
Press Pause/Break, and Lang Switcher fixes the last word you typed in the wrong layout and switches the layout for you — no copying and pasting. It works on Windows 10 and 11. Free and open source.
