Download Lang Switcher
Lang Switcher fixes text typed in the wrong keyboard layout. It’s free and open source, and the installer is signed with the author’s certificate.

Check your system
- Windows 10 version 1607 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- You’ll need administrator rights once, to install: the program goes into
C:\Program Files\Lang_Switcher, and the installer creates a certificate on your computer so that it can also work in windows of programs run as administrator (theuiAccessmanifest). The program itself runs without administrator rights. - If Lang Switcher is already running, the installer closes it for you.

Download the installer
Your browser may warn you about a rarely downloaded file. That’s expected — the “Install” step shows how to get past it.
Fallback. The same installer is in the GitHub release, in case the download from this site doesn’t work — same file, same checksum.
Version 0.103.0 Date File LangSwitcher-setup.exeSize 3.5 MB (3,485,568 bytes) SHA-256 e9b44450cab446a1ff48460de355474c26e90764d69342239049c8cc4d8764c5Signed by Panda Koder -

Verify the signature and checksum
Signature. The installer and the program are signed with my own certificate, “Panda Koder”, not one from a certification authority. That’s why Windows will show the publisher as “unknown”, and you’ll have to confirm that you want to run it. The checksum is how you check that the file is genuine.
Checksum. Open PowerShell in the folder with the file and run:
Get-FileHash .\LangSwitcher-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256The
Hashvalue must match the SHA-256 in the table above. Upper or lower case doesn’t matter. -

Install
If the browser or Windows warns you
If you see “Windows protected your PC”, that’s Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. A new release is still rarely downloaded, and the installer is signed with the author’s certificate (step 3), so the browser and Windows may warn you. That’s expected: the file is the same as in the GitHub release, and its SHA-256 checksum is above.
- Edge: “Downloads” → “…” next to the file → “Keep” → in the dialog, “Delete ▾” → “Keep anyway”. There’s no blue window when you run it — the yellow prompt comes straight away.
- Chrome: “Download suspicious file”.
- Opera, Yandex Browser, Firefox: no warning on download.
- When you run it: “Windows protected your PC” → “More info” → “Run anyway”.
- Windows won’t let the installer run, and there’s no “Run anyway” button? That means Smart App Control is turned on in Windows 11. It lets a program run if Microsoft considers it safe or if it’s signed with a certificate from a certification authority, and it doesn’t make exceptions for individual programs. Lang Switcher is signed with my own certificate, so with this protection on, Windows may not let it run. You can turn it off in the Windows Security app, under “App & browser control”. If you have the latest Windows 11 updates, you can turn it back on later; without them, only by resetting or reinstalling Windows.
Step-by-step guides with pictures:- Run
LangSwitcher-setup.exe. The setup wizard opens in your Windows language. - Confirm the installation prompt: in the yellow “Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher…” window, click “Yes”. “No” is selected by default, so pressing Enter cancels the installation.
- On the last page, leave “Launch Lang Switcher” checked — the icon appears in the tray. From then on the program starts by itself when you sign in; to turn that off, use “Start when I sign in” in the tray menu.
- What’s next? The first five minutes: the tray icon, the welcome letter and your first fix.
-
Update
Download the new version and run the installer over the old one: it closes the running program, replaces it, and keeps your settings. After an update the program doesn’t start by itself, so leave “Launch Lang Switcher” checked on the last page.
How to update in the documentation explains how you’ll know there’s a new version and what’s kept.

Uninstall
“Settings → Apps” → Lang Switcher → “Uninstall”, or “Uninstall Lang Switcher” in the Start menu. At the end, the uninstaller asks “Remove the Lang Switcher settings file as well?” — the file is
%APPDATA%\Lang_Switcher\config.toml. Choose “No” to keep your settings for a later reinstall.Removed
